PEN PALS – MAKING CLASSROOM CONNECTIONS

July 8, 2012 by teacherideafactory

Student pen pals, anyone?  My first grade teaching friend in DC gave me an idea for my latest packet (yes . . . I am talking about you, sweet Nicole).  She approached me a few months ago about the possibility of having our new kiddy crews team up next year and become classroom pen pals.  I accepted immediately as this was/is a brilliant idea (I mean  . . . think of the D5 writing that will come out of this).

At the time, I filled it away in my brain-o for an “early-August revisit.” However, the other day I realized that I would like to create a series of easy-peasy templates and ideas for us to use.  Then, I took it one step further . . . maybe other teachers might want to run with this sort of thing too??!!  Hence, the Pen Pal Packet (Everything You Need to Start a Long Distance Classroom Connection) was born!

I learned how to make a photo collage!
Here are just a FEW (yes, only FEW) of the items included in this packet.

As you can see from the collage above, this packet has oodles and oodles of templates . . . . here’s a September Letter Set freebie just for you (I levelized each monthly template to help meet your specific grade level or academic ability needs)!

Also, if pen pals aren’t your thing, I am thinking that this packet would also be a dynamite friendly letter unit as it contains worksheets, games, and templates that could be used just fine within your own four classroom walls πŸ™‚  CLICK HERE to see more of this pack.
Well, that’s it for me today folks.  I am off to pack.  Vegas is calling my name.  I am going to attempt to blog while I am playin’ in Sin City, but won’t make any promises πŸ™‚  Thanks so much for taking the time to visit.  I’ll be in touch sooner rather than later.

Such a great idea. My kids were pen pals with the 6th graders in our school and it was so much fun. This is a great pack to be able to use with that. Thanks for sharing.

All of these activities like short vowels, long vowels, sentence structure are important for the students. They should learn it in their classrooms. ib biology extended essay
