BACK TO SCHOOL THERAPY

Well . . . that’s it.  School is out for summer and it’s a little bittersweet.  I enjoyed every moment with my little kiddies these last few days and although my body is oh-so happy it’s vacation, I miss them so much already.  It was everything I could do to keep my act together yesterday.  My bloggy buddy, Christina Bainbridge, over at Mrs. Banbridge’s Class asked the question, “Did you cry on your last day?”  Uh, that would be a big YES!  Christina said that she cried a lot more this year and I would be right there along with her.  I had to leave the room twice because I started to cry when I looked out on my sea of little cuties.  I managed to give my “send off speech” at the end of the day without losing it.  I started to tear up, but somehow managed to put up the “wall” long enough to get them on the bus.  **SIGH** What an amazing ride this year.  Good-bye sweet class of 2011-2012 . . . you’re the crew to beat 🙂

Over the years, I have learned the quick way to fix any “funk” I may be in is to dive into something.  What better thing to sink myself into than planning for next year?  So, I am back on the creative train and attempting to finish up the Welcome Back Watermelon-Style Unit I started last week.  We always begin the year in first grade with a handful of super cute watermelon-themed activities, so I figured I would update them all a bit, package them together in a cute little unit, and share with you all.  Stay tuned for the pack early next week, but to tide you over, here’s a little Back To School FREEBIE.  I have done this little write for the past couple of years and it always comes out pretty cute.  Click on the link below to get your copy.

Have a great day, gang.  I am going to get to gettin’ on my unit for a couple hours before I head out to the Annual Crawdad Festival.  I am serving ice cold frothy beverages with the hubs in the Rotary booth this afternoon.  The people-watchin’ is going to be priceless 🙂  See you tomorrow my dear friends.

    Congratulations on finishing up the year. I'll have to remember to add ring pops to next years end of the year gifts, I bet your kids loved them. Looking forward to seeing your watermelon unit. Have fun people watching.

    Who doesn't love a Ring Pop!!! I can't wait to dive into planning for next year too. I have 4 days left and then the summer can begin but this past Friday was the first day it hit me the time I have with them is almost up. So…Thursday we shall see if I can hold it together. Love your blog!!

    What a cute picture!!! I didn't cry, but I think it's because I'll have the same students next year 🙂 We hugged and said "see you in two months!" I can't imagine the emotions I'll feel next year when I have to say bye to these kiddos.

      I was just like you last year. Most of them I knew I would see again so I "misted" up only a tiny bit. This year the "water" stored from the year before came a floodin'!
