Looking to slip in a cute Easter craft and a few related activities that are still standard-friendly? If your answer is, yes, I have a handful of ideas just for you! Not only do they engage kiddos, but they also target a handful of reading and writing standards.
ADJECTIVE BUNNIES
SPRING SENTENCES
Why stop at just the craft and a write? Let’s come full circle with this idea and explore the power that adjectives have in sentences. And . . . let’s do it with some fun flavor. Spinning Spring Sentences works well in center rotations or as a writing block activity before Easter Break. Students are given a spring/Easter related noun. They use a spinner to generate a verb and an adjective. Students then use all three of these words in a detailed sentence. See the picture below to get the idea. This activity is part of my Adjective Bunnies packet.
NOT YOUR AVERAGE EGG HUNT
Hunting for eggs is always high on a kiddo’s list this time of year. Leverage this like no other by creating a parts of speech egg hunt. Write or print out a handful of Easter and/or spring themed nouns, verbs, and adjectives. You may choose to print these words out on Easter egg clip art or you can up the ante and place the words inside cheap plastic eggs. Hide the words in your room and send the kids on a hunt the room adventure with a special Easter twist. It’s funny how changing the theme or incorporating new “hooks” (i.e. plastic eggs) makes a recycled activity (hunt the room) novel again.
Alright, so there you have it. A handful of fun standards-based Easter activities that will delight your students and administrators (((wink . . . wink))). All of the activities above can be incorporated with a little elbow grease on your part. However, if you are looking to print and go, I have you covered. My Adjective Bunny Packet contain all of the activities outlined above as well as a handful of other standards-based parts of speech practice activities.

They are adorable! It's in my wishlist for now—gotta get through the next week or so before I can even THINK of bunnies-but this is just precious! (not only is it St. Patty's but also my soon to be SEVEN year old's birthday on Friday—and party saturday! and 2 weeks after easter is my soon to be 3 year year old's day—so I need all I can get right now!) 😉
